This session provides the preliminary information needed to understand the key definitions of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging and its importance in the workplace setting. This is the first session to set the context for the remainder of the four sessions.

This session focuses on the individual role of being inclusive leaders even without being in a leadership position. Understanding the importance of inclusion in the decision-making process, and removal of biases in that process. It also focuses on creating a culture of belonging within the organization where everyone is valued for their diverse perspectives.

CPA Alberta’s Vice-Chair, Maureen Moneta CPA, CA, talks about her experiences as an Indigenous CPA, and reflects on lessons learned.

In part two, Maureen expands on her thoughts on leadership and discusses programs in Alberta that support Indigenous learners in accounting and business.
