Current highlighted opportunities:

  1. CPA Alberta Complaints Inquiry Committee Member

CPA Alberta Complaints Inquiry Committee Member

Complaints Inquiry Committee (CIC) members play an integral role in CPA Alberta’s conduct and discipline process and protecting the integrity and reputation of the profession by bringing their judgment, experience, and critical thinking skills to the work of the Committee.

The Complaints Inquiry Committee is a statutory decision-making body which, following the receipt of an investigator’s initial report, determines whether to refer allegations of unprofessional conduct to the Discipline Tribunal Roster Chair for a hearing or to dismiss the matter. The Committee is also involved in potential settling of allegations of unprofessional conduct through sanction agreements.

Among other competencies and skills, potential Committee members should have:

  • An appreciation and understanding of the responsibility and accountability that CPA Alberta has to govern its members to protect the public
  • Communication and interpersonal skills that demonstrate integrity, accountability and tact
  • Ability to formulate reasoned decisions and communicate them

Committee members are expected to attend one eight-hour meeting four times per year, with an additional minimum preparation time of 10 hours for each meeting.
