Indigenous Entrepreneur and Instructor
Joshua Letendre CPA, MPAcc is a distinguished professional with robust academic credentials, including a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from MacEwan University and a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan. His career began in public practice, specializing in accounting within the Agriculture and Indigenous sectors, underscoring his dedication to these vital sectors.
After earning his CPA designation, Joshua broadened his expertise to include roles in the not-for-profit sector, teaching, and entrepreneurship, significantly impacting each.
He currently serves as an Indigenous (Métis) Instructor at the CPA Western School of Business, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Indigenous accounting professionals. Additionally, Joshua is a sessional professor at his alma mater, MacEwan University, teaching a variety of courses in accounting, finance, and data analytics.
Joshua’s dedication to education extends to his position as the Executive Director of New Buffalo Education Circle, an organization committed to promoting higher education and equitable career opportunities for Indigenous learners.
His community involvement extends to his roles on the board of governors for CPA Alberta's Education Foundation and as board treasurer for Special Olympics Alberta, demonstrating his passion for governance and strategic oversight in supporting remarkable charities. His passion for giving back is a testament to his character and values.
In his personal life, Joshua enjoys embracing his Métis heritage through outdoor activities like fishing and hunting, connecting deeply with his roots and following in his ancestors' footsteps.
Joshua’s diverse interests and commitment to the profession, education, and community make him a distinguished individual in his field and he was honoured for this work with the CPA Alberta Early Achievement Award in 2024.
